He earned the unofficial title of “Mr. Housing Allowance” as the lead tax advisor in the court case challenging ministers’ housing allowance benefits involving Rick Warren in 2002. More recently, he was responsible for negotiating with the IRS to avoid computer selection practices that unfairly targeted ministers.
His expertise has resulted in pioneering tax services and resources for ministry professionals through specialized strategies for ministers’ tax and retirement planning. You may not know Steve personally, but if you’re a minister, you’ve already benefited from his efforts. His expertise will help ministry professionals understand and enjoy their benefits during and beyond their active ministry years; including helping to preserve their housing allowance benefit for life.

Retirement Assets

If you are over 70, this year you can make a direct transfer from your IRA to a project in the Foundation and not have to receive it as income first. This also qualifies as your Mandatory Minimum Distribution for the year. This is especially good for people who do not itemize on their tax return. If you are under 70, designating a portion of your retirement assets to charity is the most economical way to give from your estate.  Please contact our office by clicking here to find out how to do this and for sample letters.
